Introduction

The Cloud Accelerated Data Science Lab (DSL) service offering can be considered a set of building blocks. These can be clustered in logical groups of applications and virtual machines which leverage on managed AWS services. Additionally, the Cloud-Accelerated portal is a web application that can be accessed via EU Login and allows the DSL users to quickly deploy and manage certain cloud-related services and features within their DSL. These services are applications such as AWS EC2, S3, RDS, and IAM. Besides the services available on the portal, additional services may be provisioned upon request, among which a Linux-based virtual machine with common pre-installed tools and libraries for data scientists. Whereas the portal services are accessed through the public internet, the access to these additional services is via a dedicated setup to ensure private access.
