Back-ups & Recovery

Back-ups (Cloud-Accelerated and Cloud-Agnostic)#

There is a monthly, weekly and daily schedule in place to make sure that there is always an up-to-date snapshot of your data in case of emergency. Find below an overview of our back-up schema per database service.

    • Frequency: Daily
    • Retention: 35 dd
    • No transition to cold storage

Back-ups (Linked Data Platform)#

A custom backup strategy has been implemented for EBS volumes attached to the virtuoso servers of the Linked Data Platform to safeguard data, as the automated snapshots proved insufficient in some edge cases where the server fails and corrupts silently. Here, a backup is taken daily 1AM UTC.

Recovery#

In case of data base issues, the EC Data Platform team is able to restore data from a snapshot. Potential loss of data is possible based on the back-up procedure implemented for the specific service.
